Vern, who is 97 years old, is a beloved presence every Tuesday and Thursday during lunch. He loves volunteering: “I’m serving the Lord this way, and I really enjoy helping other people out.” Senior Services The following services support seniors and families: • Information and Referral: Referrals to local and regional resources for seniors and family caregivers • Health-Related Activities: Blood pressure testing, foot care clinic, movement classes and other health services as available • Educational Activities: Seminars and workshops on topics of interest to seniors and their families • Recreation Activities: Free weekly games, movies and specially scheduled craft activities • Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance (SHIBA): Call to schedule an appointment for free assistance with Medicare, supplemental plans and prescription plans • Senior Utility Discount: Offered by City of Ashland for low income utility customers over age 65, or over age 60 with disability—Call to schedule application assistance at the Senior Services office • FreeTouchpassBusCards/ValleyLiftVouchers: A limited number of prepaid Touchpass bus cards and Valley Lift vouchers are available to seniors 62 and older • Senior Food Box Program: We can help you connect with Ashland Emergency Food Bank for home delivered food Senior Services Division Ongoing Programs Enjoy a variety of recreational and social activities at the Senior Center. The APRC Senior Services Division supports older residents of Ashland, helping them live more independently and continue as contributing members of the community.
